OFFICIAL CHARTER

The Statutory Mission of Football Club des Bords de l'Ain

Our Mission: Football Club des Bords de l'Ain is dedicated exclusively to public utility and community welfare through the educational and social practice of football across the rural municipalities of Poncin, Neuville-sur-Ain, Pont-d'Ain, and Cerdon. As an officially recognized non-profit organization operating under the French Association Law of 1901, our core mandate is to provide a safe, structured, and entirely inclusive sporting environment that promotes physical health, civic values, mutual respect, and social solidarity among youth and adults alike. We actively counteract sedentary lifestyles, combat geographic and social isolation in rural valleys, and strengthen intercommunal bonds without commercial objectives. Through dedicated volunteer coaching, municipal partnerships, subsidized sports clinics, and local tournaments, every single activity directly serves the public interest and community cohesion.

1. Educational Accessibility & Equal Opportunity

We believe that access to structured athletic instruction is a fundamental civic right for every child, regardless of household income or social standing. In many commercialized sports academies, escalating enrollment fees, mandatory private uniform purchases, and expensive travel itineraries exclude children from modest rural households.

At Football Club des Bords de l'Ain, our fee structure is strictly calculated on an at-cost basis and is supplemented by municipal grants from Poncin, Neuville-sur-Ain, Pont-d'Ain, and Cerdon. Furthermore, our solidarity kit program provides refurbished soccer boots and training gear to any child in need, completely free of charge and without bureaucratic stigma.

Every participant receives identical educational attention from our volunteer coaching staff. We teach game fundamentals with patience, emphasizing motor development, team collaboration, and personal responsibility rather than elitist selection trials.

PUBLIC HEALTH

2. Counteracting Sedentary Lifestyles & Screen Dependency

The World Health Organization and regional health authorities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region have documented concerning rises in childhood obesity, postural deficits, and social isolation associated with excessive screen time. In rural communities, where recreational spaces are often scattered, children are especially vulnerable to spending their non-school hours indoors.

Football Club des Bords de l'Ain serves as a primary public health intervention. By offering 4 to 6 hours of high-intensity, joyful cardiovascular activity every week, our programs help participants maintain healthy body composition, improve lung capacity, develop strong bone density, and enhance mental concentration for academic pursuits.

Moreover, team sports provide an invaluable sensory and emotional contrast to digital interactions. On the field, players communicate with real voices, read body language, celebrate genuine physical goals, and learn to resolve disputes face-to-face in an environment guided by adult mentors.

TERRITORIAL SOLIDARITY

3. Bridging Communities & Overcoming Rural Isolation

Rural isolation does not simply affect elderly residents; it also impacts families, young parents, and working adults who may feel disconnected from broader community life. In an era where local village services, shops, and postal branches have undergone consolidation, community sports clubs represent one of the few remaining physical gathering points.

Our matches and community assemblies bring hundreds of residents together each weekend. Families from Cerdon travel to Pont-d'Ain; residents of Neuville-sur-Ain share carpools with neighbors from Poncin. These regular encounters foster inter-village friendships, ease the integration of newcomers to the Ain valley, and strengthen the civic fabric of our entire territory.

Through our dedicated adult and veteran divisions, we also provide working parents and older residents with a joyful, non-competitive outlet for exercise and camaraderie, reducing depression risks and fostering a strong sense of local belonging.

4. Ethical Citizenship & The Fair-Play Charter

Football has the power to educate like few other activities. It is a microcosm of society where rules must be upheld, collective effort supersedes individual ego, and diversity of talent is required for common achievement.

Every member of Football Club des Bords de l'Ain—players, coaches, parents, and executive officers—signs our formal Fair-Play Charter upon joining. This charter explicitly mandates:

  • Absolute Respect for Match Officials: The referee's decision is final and accepted without dissent. Players learn emotional self-regulation and civility under pressure.
  • Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: Racism, sexism, verbal taunting, and discriminatory remarks result in immediate disciplinary suspension from all club activities.
  • Respect for Facilities: Pitch grounds, changing rooms, and communal areas must be left spotless after each practice and game. Participants actively take part in cleanup duties.
  • Parental Sportsmanship: Spectators on the touchlines are expected to encourage all participants warmly, applauding skilful play from both teams and setting an impeccable moral example.
